St. Mary’s Music Ministries
St. Mary’s is blessed with wonderful volunteers who serve as Music Ministers:
Cantors: The Parish Leaders of Song are usually called forth from one of the choirs, and are trained in the Liturgy and Psalmody. Their role is to support and encourage the sung worship of the Assembly, as are the following choirs:
Teen Choir: The youth of the parish are invited to participate in this choir, grades 7 through 12. The basics of singing are expanded, and two- and three-part singing is begun. Issues of faith are incorporated into the rehearsals through understanding the meaning behind the words of hymns. This choir ministers at the 4:00 p.m. Saturday Vigil Liturgy.
Adult Choir: This is a traditional choir for adults in the parish, singing in four-part harmony. Psalmody, hymn-singing, and anthems are explored, as are various vocal techniques and music reading. The Adult Choir ministers at the 10:30 a.m. Sunday Liturgy, as well as various Holy Days and Sacramental Liturgies.
