St. Vincent de Paul

In the early 1990’s a St. Vincent de Paul Conference was started at Saint Mary’s made up of parishioners whose aim was to help the less fortunate among us. The group continues to provide a number of services in response to calls for help that come in to the rectory.

Supported by the generous donations of parishioners, the conference provides help with rent, utilities, food and clothing for our brothers and sisters who find themselves in need. We have our own food pantry in St. Mary’s Rectory stocked by the monthly donations of food and paper goods donated by our parishioners.

Members of the conference visit the homes of those who call for help, and often it is determined that more help can be provided than was originally requested. We serve all people, never asking about race or religion. All information is kept confidential.

Since the conference was formed we have helped countless people to get back on their feet after difficult times. We are fortunate to be able to work in conjunction with Catholic Charities in our area, the parish nurse at St. Mary’s, the Human Services Department of the Town of Franklin – from whom we receive referrals and to whom we can make referrals so that our clients can receive the help they need from more than one source.

Hopefully the work of the conference will continue for many years to come!

Annually on the Feast of St. Vincent de Paul, a Mass is offered at St. Mary’s for our benefactors and for the families whom we have been able to provide services.

If you or someone you know is in need, call the Rectory and assistance will be provided. All requests are kept confidential. The parish is very generous in its support of this organization. If you would like to assist in the efforts of this group, the Rectory would be happy to hear from you, 528-0020.
