Anointing of the Sick

07-31-2020Letters From Fr. BrianRev. Brian F. Manning

Dear Parishioners and Friends of Saint Mary’s,

Parishioners and neighbors who have been able to come to our Weekend Masses comment on how our Masses are very safe and most reverent. Please know that we will be here whenever you are able to return. I wish to thank all those involved in helping our Masses to be available to those who come through the doors of our church.

I am well aware that the Town’s Plans for Education are still in process and there are no clear decisions. We are preparing to offer our Religious Education Program in ways that provide authentic faith formation and make it as “user friendly” as possible for parents. I am well aware that this Fall start-up for school is difficult and worrisome for parents and for our young people. Our plans should be available about one week after the Town announces its Plan. Clearly most of us now sense that we truly need God in our lives to provide the courage and strength to get though all of these days. We all need hope and help and the Lord certainly provides that.

Next weekend we would have had a special Mass with the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick in honor of Saint Rocco, our Parish special Patron for all of our Parishioners who seek healing of mind, body or soul. With this Pandemic we are not allowed to bring together in our holy sanctuary those who are vulnerable or ill. Let us all pause and say a prayer to Saint Rocco for his intercession with the Lord Jesus for those of us who are seeking God’s healing graces.

I want to thank everyone who contributes to the financial support of our Parish either by church Mass offering, online or by mail or door drop off to the Rectory. We are able to continue in most ways because of your personal generosity. Our Saint Vincent de Paul is also most appreciative of your support.

The Catholic TV Channel (found on cable or streamed at catholictv.org) provides deeply spiritual Masses and great resources of our faith for Catholics. As a parish dedicated to Mary, Mother of God, we are blessed with the saving graces of her Son. Let us turn to Him and ask that He surround us with his light and grace in these coming days.

God bless,
Father Brian
