The homepage of the US Catholic Bishops’ Office of Justice and Peace offers information on Catholic social teaching and on the church’s positions on issues of justice and peace. Pax Christi USA commits itself to peace education and, with the help of its bishop members, promotes the gospel imperative of peacemaking as a priority in the Catholic Church in the United States. Pax Christi is a section of Pax Christi International, the Catholic peace movement. The Xaverian Missionaries at Fatima Shrine in Holliston host a local Pax Christi group.
The mission of Massachusetts Citizens for Life, Inc., is to promote the respect for human life and to defend the right to life of all human beings, born and unborn. The Archdiocese also has a Pro-Life Office which includes a link for Project Rachel, a ministry of healing and reconciliation for women and men who have been affected by abortion.
The Markkula Center for Applied Ethics at the Jesuit Santa Clara University in California provides a forum for research and discussion in areas of applied ethics such as business, biotechnology and health care. Go to Ethics Resources and click on Framework for Ethical Decision Making for a presentation of six lenses/perspectives on ethics as well as a model for ethical decision making.
The Equal Justice Initiative, founded by Bryan Stevenson, the author of Just Mercy, “is committed to ending mass incarceration and excessive punishment in the United States, to challenging racial and economic injustice, and to protecting basic human rights for the most vulnerable people in American society” (organization website).
