Dear Parishioners and Friends of St. Mary's,
This letter is meant mainly to wish you a Happy and Holy New Year.
It is stunning to recognize that Christmas Day 2020 has already happened. The Church celebrates the Season of Christmas all the way through the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord (this year – January 10, 2021), but most of us conclude the Season with New Year’s Day. Although this year because of the Pandemic just about nothing was as we wanted, I hope that you and your loved ones shared some moments of laughter and love.
These moments may not have been as you traditionally celebrate, but we know that life will change for the better for us. Our faith keeps us centered and strong. Recall the beautiful hymn which says: “We walk by faith, not by sight.”
Just a reminder that Masses for New Year’s Day (The Feast of Mary, Mother of God) will be Thursday, December 31 at 4:00pm and also Friday, January 1 at 10:30am. I think everyone now knows that you must register to attend Mass and that it is easy to do. Also we are required to wear masks and have a temperature check (below 100.4) in order to enter the church space.
Regular Saturday/Sunday Mass times resume this weekend, January 2-3, 2021. Masses are Saturday at 4 PM and Sunday at 7:30 & 10:30 AM and Noon. Registration is required and probably will be for the foreseeable few months ahead. Remember that Mass is live-streamed (4 PM Saturday and 10:30 AM and Noon Sunday) and found best via www.twitch.tv/stmarysfranklin. There are other ways, but they are more difficult. Everyone is dispensed by Cardinal Seán from attending Mass.
This letter is meant to be short. Next week’s will probably be much longer! I just wanted you to know that Father Jack and all the Pastoral and Professional Staff along with me wish you a “Blessed and Happy New Year.”
God bless,
Father Brian
