06-17-2022Letters From Fr. BrianRev. Brian F. Manning

Dear Parishioners and Friends of Saint Mary Parish,

The Prayer Vigil Service held on the Common last Sunday evening was a most impressive service. Thank you to all who were involved. A Schola from our Choir came and provided very inspirational music for the service. Father Boris of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, (St. Michael the Archangel Parish, Woonsocket RI); spoke most inspirationally and passionately about the War in Ukraine. We must always pray for peace and also work for peace. Prayer is the beginning and foundation, but we must also strive in all things to bring peace to our lives and world.

The Sacred Heart Knights of Columbus Council held a most successful Blood Donor Drive this past Saturday. Their volunteer efforts and work in collecting blood donations are greatly assisting in alleviating the critical shortage of blood in our medical centers. Lives are saved because of this special volunteer work of the Knights and the most generous response by Parishioners and Friends to donate their living-saving blood.

This coming Monday, we will be holding our closing Parish Pastoral Council (PPC) Meeting with a lovely buffet dinner for our outgoing and incoming members. We say “thank you” to Roberta Trahan, Faith Flaherty, and Christopher Feeley and “welcome” to Pandora Carlucci, James Lane, Lisa Oxford, and John Ristaino. Our PPC assist me as Pastor in their prayerful thought and reflection in seeking ways to help us live out our Mission as the Parish of Saint Mary, Franklin. I thank the outgoing Members for their dedicated service and I know our incoming Members will contribute to the life of our faith community through their efforts and advice.

The faithful and consistent generosity of so many Parishioners has allowed our Parish community to continue during these many, many months of the Pandemic. Your online giving (best accessed: stmarysfranklin.org), your mail-in or drop-by envelopes and your giving in the baskets at the doors of the church at Mass over the weekend have all helped to keep us going. I personally thank you. I also admire the faithful generosity of so many of you to our Saint Vincent de Paul and its work for the fragile and needy. Thank you to those who always remember those who have less and are in need.

We continue to be blessed by the intercession of our Parish Patroness, Mary the Blessed Mother. We continue to ask Saint Rocco, Saint of Healing and our special Patron to intercede for those who are ill in mind, body or soul and most especially for our young people.
God bless,
     Father Brian
